Repair and Durability are the extreme of a spectrum where all products live. At the edges of the spectrum we usually find tech companies, like Apple, Samsung, OnePlus etc. All these companies, Apple way more than others, have devices which are very durable, but they are very difficult to repair.

Apple iPhone 13 Mini for example is one of the most durable phones ever created (by Apple at least), and they made it so durable that you shouldn’t ever repair it. When the screen eventually cracks though, it’s not trivial to remove it to install a new one, not even for a trained technician. They had to do it this way though, if they wanted durability. By loosing up components and introducing repairability elements, than the durability drops, since everything is more loos and more probable to break, but also easier to repair.

On the other side of the spectrum lays the Fairphone, which purpose was to create a modular and extremely reparable smartphone, this at the price of durability.
